Our helper in Times of Trouble

Preface to the message:

“Live a righteous life , do not partake in the sour grapes of Satan for at the end, the benefits which people derive from evil will be left here,  but the results of those evils done  will follow them.”

The world was made by God and at the end of creating all things the Bible recorded that He saw that all what He made were good.

However,  this world is full of struggle. The man Harcourt White sang the song “Umugi emebi wo  uwa GI”

This translates into ” Your children Have Spoilt Your World“.

You notice violence every where. hatred and wild enmity across the globe. Nations and peoples arising against themselves. Is that the type of world God gave to us? Is that the world He said all He created is  good?

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.( Genesis 1 :31).

This statement came after God had created all things including man within a period of six days step by step creating all things.

Is this world  good as  today? God did not create the world for Himself to inhabit. He created the world for men to inhabit.

So whether men destroy the good , they will.live in their handiwork.

It is within man to actualize the good in the world which God has set up for them.

It will be a good place if men make it good, but the sons of Cain have polluted the earth.

But all forms  of intrigues and ungodly diplomacy pervade in the lives of nations and her peoples. So we have a world of troubles.

We craved for world peace and  emerged with the United Nations,  which today is a divided house,  because while in the same house none seeks to have peace with each other. So the nations meet with each man hanging his bag on his shoulder which contains the crave for murder,  and destruction of structures of other nations.

Are the building of weapons of mass destruction (chemical weapons), to build a good world? Is laughter possible with a clenched teeth?

At the village squares,  town halls,  the houses of Assembly and  at the Hague people meet to discuss ways to move ahead,  but the man you shake hands with  is like you are taking a bet of what each  will do against the other. But note this that  God never gave us that tyoe of world but men have given to themselves what they want.

THE TYPE OF WORLD GOD GAVE US

. “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”(Genesis 1 :28)

The world which  God gave to us is that world to :

(1) Be fruitful.

(2) Multiply and replenish.

(3) Subdue the earth and

(4) Have dominion over all creation..

Indeed God means good to man. To be fruitful, is to produce good things, to multiply and replenish is to increase the population of human beings in the earth and to replenish is  to bring more people to replace wasted ones.

But today man is burying loved ones untimely, some  have happened,  due to sin or violence on  each other.

To subdue the earth is to have mastery of the things God has given us and dominion is to have rule.

But man is neither multiplying and replenishing, but rather wasting. Man seeks to dominate his neighbor instead of being creative for overall benefit of mankind.

But we think we  are doing too well.

In all these, is this  the type of world which God gave us?  So today,  we are all at the border of forced labour to deliver premature babies.

People are dying and long life is not here again. There are too many premeditated deaths of old and young. Man has definitely become an enemy to himself.

People now  live in fear of even their own shadows, because every fly passing must be suspected to carry missiles. Wow ! What a world.

Like a song I learnt in my primary school  days :

Since man to man is so unjust.

I don’t know which man to trust.

I have trusted many in my sorrow

Friends today enemies tomorrow.

Because of the  things that come and would  come what must we do?

These happenings are only pointers to a sure end. Let no man deceive himself that this place is an utopia counting on the things you see or have heard.

We cannot give up , life must continue, what we  must do is to do what we need to do  to  keep us alive.

Only fools commit suicide,  because they cannot face adversity.

But while we do what we do,  we must  note that this world is winding up.

The only thing that  counts  is what we will take home . All what we live with  in comfort, will  not be remembered. God has better things for them that live in righteousness,  things which are better than what is   in this  world that is growing in evil by the day.

In a troubled world God is our present help and future hope.

And so Jesus said :

14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. (John 14 :2-4).

In the midst of these  troubles let us look up to Jesus, who has a grand plan for us, while we are in this world of troubles.

Live a righteous life , do not partake in the sour grapes of Satan for at the end the benefits which people derive from evil will be left here,  but the results of those evils done  will follow them.

Let us be heaven conscious which is a great opium to heal troubled minds. So we  can live in the midst of troubles and behave like nothing happened or is happening.

Through this lifestyle and living in the fear of God and in the hope of His promise, the troubles of  the age will  be like nothing,  if we understand that such things, we experience today, had been predicted by Christ.

Then, we can take this song:

On Christ the solid rock I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand.

The world is sinking,  but on Christ we stand.  We will console ourselves in this way to give us the peace of mind we need as we tread the border to eternity. There is hope, for we will be with Christ.

LET US CLOSE WITH THIS SONG

(1) There shall be joy in  the morning

Oh child of God cry no more

There shall be joy in the morning

(2) There shall be joy in the morning

Sorrows taken away

Child of God cry no more

There shall be joy in the morning.

Amen Amen Amen
