A WALK WITH GOD ( 50 year anniversary message)

A WALK WITH GOD

The Bible recorded that there were faithful people who walked with God. God led them, blessed them and their posterity and also received them into eternity. God left a covenant of obedience and prosperity for their children and children’s children who lived in obedience before Him. In a day like this when I mark my 50 years with the Lord God I present these little words of encouragement for all of us. May God continue to bless Israel Amen.

 (1) WALKING WITH GOD IS A COMMAND.

DEUT. 5:33
Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. Deuteronomy 5:33

The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. Deuteronomy 28:9

 (2) WALKING IN FAITH
IT IS NOT A PHYSICAL WALK, BUT A WALK IN FAITH
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

For if we have been planted  ( buried) together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; ( Colossians 1:10 )

Our walk with God must be fruitful. This Easter period is another reminder of where we are walking to.  Christians  are planted in the likeness  of His death and we  shall be in the likeness of His resurrection which we mark today  March 16th , 2017 AD.

THIS IS LIKELY A WALK OF NOT  MANY MULTITUDES

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.( Revelation 3: 4 . )

There were a few in Sardis who walked with the Lord.  God notes in the Book of Revelation that  there were a few. Let us be mindful for this has been the case in all generations. We must be mindful of presumptuous Christianity and abiding by activities set by men instead of seriously walking in the truths of the gospel. There is is so much of ceremonious Christianity today. If ceremonies make us christians then we are in for great  times. This time both the infidels and the faithful  celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection. The recognition of Christ by all gives me joy. However let us look st our personal walk with God. This is the centre piece of the Christian faith.

( 3) There were  Men who Walked with God

(a) Methuselah and Enoch

And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. Genesis 5:22 .

We know that Elijah like Enoch walked with God and was taken to heaven without seeing death.

These were human beings like us. May God give us great grace.

(b) NOAH WALKED WITH GOD

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. Genesis 6:9

( c )The book of Job spoke of it ( walking with God)

When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness; Job 29:3.

Our world is filled with, darkness and when we wade through this world,  we think it  is easy. Job noted that he walked in darkness in the light of God.

 (d) Isaiah spoke of people who walked with the Lord

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Isaiah 9 : 2

Isaiah repeated what was expressed in,the book of Job, but for God we could have been lost in utter darkness of life. Glory be to God.

Is it not true that God has brought us out of darkness unto His marvellous light? People that walked in the dsrkness of this world can now walk through the light of God.  If we did not have the Christ in our generation , what do you think would have become of us?

(4) God confirms people who walked with Him

Will God confirm our walk with Him.?  Brethren ,  I know from my experiences in this 50 years that a walk with God is not easy. For people who serve before the mighty human leaders, they know each moment in the palace is protocol. The environment is tense and no one dares  break protocols.

But our God is mightier than the mightiest, greater than  the greatest , holier than the  human holiest. How tense is it like standing in His Court?. Knowing this is the trend in mighty places of humanity., why do we walk, into the courts of God without respect? Is it not because we have been over pampered by God? Do we think God will lose His honour just because He loves us are cares?

  (5) The Lord examined some priests and said the following :

The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. Malachi 2 : 6

My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. Malachi 2 : 5

Remember that all true believers are priests of God. How we go about His truth will esttablish His covenant in our lives. When God’s word declared that we are a royal priesthood,  He did not discriminate between man and woman. All believers are priests to God, but a woman who has done well are priests to  God by exception principle, nonetheless, they must be mindful before His Court.

( 5) Note this divine observation :

In the above reference, God was talking about some Levitic priests :

The truth was with Him he walked in peace with God. Special  reference is adduced to people like Phinehas. Read the following :

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying  Numbers 25:10 :

Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy (. Numbers 25 : 11 )

Could we be counted as one who could turn away the wrath of God from our generation. This is the role of true priesthood.

And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel. (Numbers 25: 13.).

(6) We are enjoined to walk accordingly : We must be spiritual minded in all our activities..All priests of God are human beings. The peopke of this world see them  as themselves in physical human form,  but we are more than that, because God is our strength. When the time is ripe may God use us like Phinehas,, to rebuke evil Amen. Even the ordinary Christian , who  has not seen his priesthood ,  is a Christ warrior and must walk as such for the same grace shields all.

NOTE :
2 Corinthians 10 :2  But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh

10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh

:10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)

10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled ..

 (7) We must walk just as He walked
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2 : 6

(7) NOTE :

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

 Ephesians 2 :2
If we have been regenerated from a previous life of sin, we must be careful not to get back to that life.  The people we noted to have walked with God did not draw back and they earned the promise, This presentation cannot list all who walked with God and their experiences, but we must note it were all of anguish and persecution, but they walked diligently to earn a crown, and  God bore evidence of the fellowship with Him. Therefore let us look at the prize before us to win, and be mindful of a possibility of losing so precious crown. The loss is something which cannot be recalled.

Cast your mind on the team that wins a world cup in football and how happy they are, yet it is a transient prize. Cast your mind also on  the team that loses the gold cup in the same game, and see how they cried, yet they can come again in another four years to try again. But note that in all these,  they are trophies of time. In our walk with God we are talking of trophies for a timeless reign with Christ.

May God bless my 50 years walk with Him. May He grant me another tenor by  His grace.  Lord grant me the grace to walk like the past heroes of  faith.. Thank you Lord AMEN.

THIS IS MY ENCOURAGEMENT TO ALL THOSE WHO WILL HEAR ME SPEAK OR  RECEIVE THIS BY MAIL TODAY OR BY ANY MEANS.

MAY THEY HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TO WALK WITH GOD FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS AS I SEEK GOD’S GREAT GRACE ONWARDS. IT COULD BE THE BEGINNING OF A LONG JOURNEY WITH GOD AND MAY HE MAKE IT FRUITFUL FOR ALL US  AMEN.

Thank you.
