When I was young, I know we were regular in sitting around our parents either our mother or our father. We often leaned on them and you might see them rub our head. Some of us who had eczena on our scalp they easily discovered it and prescribed some medication. They discussed with us and told us ancient stories as we gathered around them.
Some children were very perculiar and distanced themselves from the parents. Such were however rare characters. However, we noted that those of us, who stayed close , learnt so much. Personally I was close to my dad and he cautioned me over certain things which he felt I needed to know.
Our foremost parent, however, is God. When we are close to Him, He leads us, protects, provides for us and gives us eternal life at the end, which are such things our earthly parents will not be able to provide.
Can We Lean Upon The Lord?
We can lean upon God the same way we leaned upon our parents. Scripture speaks to us in this wise : “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5). By this we should look up to the Lord, we should lean on Him.
There was a disciple who loved to lean on the Lord. Jesus had told them that one of His disciples will betray Him. Follow this discussion:
“When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. (John 13:21-22).
Among children some are closer to the father as one in his heart. There was that disciple, who loved to lean on Jesus breast and he asked Jesus: “He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? (John 13:25).
He could have spoken into Jesus’s ear so that Jesus only would hear the whisper, without others hearing, because of intimacy, he was very close.
How does it look like to lean upon the breast of God? Could there be any secret God will withhold to such one?
MEDITATION.
Meditation Draws God’s People Near To Him.
Meditation is one way of deliberating with the Lord through His word. Meditation is one way of drawing near to God, and raising very key matters before Him in a quiet time. Meditation is a chat with God on the way.
On the journey to Emmaus ( Luke 24: 13-32), some of the disciples spoke with Jesus after He had risen from the dead, without knowing and in like manner could some chat with God not knowing, because their mind is focussed to Him.
MAKE GOD YOUR FRIEND FIRST.
Every thing about God is contained in making Him our friend. We can not obey God, if we do not first make Him our friend. We can not lean on His promises on salvation or any other thing if we do not make Him a friend. We can not talk of eternal life, if we do not share His vision for us.
FRIENDS KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO WALK AND TALK TOGETHER.
God sheds light on our way when we walk with Him, He reveals Himself more to us when we walk with Him. Because God is a spirit and we are human , it is only through meditation that we can access Him quicker. We see God through His Word for no one can see Him unless we reason on His word with a righteous heart and walk by it..
TRANSPORTED TO HEAVEN IN MEDITATION AND PRAYER .
When we walk in the spirit with God He occasionally transports us to the heavenly realm, and so we wake up with dreams often with trances of His supernatural existence.
We will go TO HEAVEN to live with God for ever, but we must start living with Him first through meditation on His word in this planet earth, and I guess all what God has for us has been mentioned in His holy book, the only difference are the exact templates of those things which we will behold in heaven.
The Bible emphasises a walk with God and I wil list a few to help us get unto the road that leads to God. These are faithful issues about heaven and we must also write our own experiences of how we have known God.
(1) Genesis 17:1
“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” (Genesis 17:1)
(2) Deut. 5:33
“Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. (Deuteronomy 5:33)
(3) Ps. 138:7
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.” (Psalm 138:7)
(4) Isaiah 50:11
“Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow. (Isaiah 50:11).
(5) Hosea 14:9
“Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.” (Hosea 14:9).
(6) Micah 6:8
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (Micah 6:8)
(7) John 12:35
“Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. (John12:35)
(8) Romans 13:13
“Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. (Romans 13:13)
(9) Gal. 5:16
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians (5:16)
(10) Eph 5:2
“And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (Ephesians 5:2).
(11) Col. 2:6
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: (Colossians 2:6).
Is there any contrariness in perfect walk with God? Can meditation improve a walk relationship with God? What must you do now? Just keep walking as you have walked when you know you are not on course?
Note these :
Gen 5:22
“And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. (Genesis 5:22).
Mal. 2:6
“The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. (Malachi 2:6).
1 John 2:6
“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. (1 John 2 :6).
If we say we abide in Christ let us abide as they did.
Were those who walked with God not thought to be foolish people? But I know that way can be the best of choices. God bless you for having reason to find Jesus and lean on Him or hold Him by the hand in this solitary world Amen.
God bless the reader or the hearer of this message and grant to to him the faithfulness to desire to walk with God. How wonderful , how mysterious to walk with God.
