LAZARUS

Christian brethren, I welcome all of us to this Sunday. Any where you may be note that God loves you and wants you to worship him faithfully. What ever position you may occupy in life God will, use you for His glory if you submit your wealth and poverty to glorify the Lord.

THE MESSAGE:

Read Luke 16:19-31

Lazarus came to beg for food at the gates of the rich man who fed sumptiously . But this rich  man sent his dogs to leak the sores of the beggar Lazarus. He could not care for him.

After some time Lazarus died and was taken to the bosom of Abraham in heaven, The rich man at his time also died and was buried and taken to hell from where he saw Lazarus sitting with Abraham.

Note this difference:

1) Lazarus died and was carried by angels to the bossom of Abraham. (Luke 16 : 22.)

2) the rich man died and was buried  (Luke 16 : 22)

The rich man saw the difference and noted he was in a place of suffering, but Lazarus was in bliss.

He called for help.

  1. that Father Abraham should dip his finger in cold water and drop a drop of water to cool his tongue. He was told there was a vault between them, which no one can cross.

(Luke 16:24).

  1. He begged father Abraham to send someone to earth to preach repentance to relations, never to come to that place of suffering. He was told that the pastors were still on earth preaching, they should listen to them. (Luke 16:31)

THE MORAL LESSON.

Many people are not aware of the fact that they are strangers on this earth. The positions they occupy make them feel they are everything, but beyond this life they are powerless to give to themselves anything.

Most poor people think that all around them is emptiness. It is good if those who are poor, should remain great in serving the Lord for there is no infamity on earth, which follows any one beyond this earth.

No greatness follows any one out of this earth. In the life to come there is heaven and hell a place of suffering and a place of happiness. The choice must be made by the living and not by the dead.

Mocking of the men of God.

If you are such a one who mocks the messengers of the gospel, it is time to appreciate the fact that you will, be like the rich man, who was begging for a drop of cold water to cool his tongue or asking  for angels to visit the earth to tell his  relations to avoid hell by obeying the gospel.

Too late to do many things after death.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:  (Hebrews 9:27).

If it were possible to repent after death, hell would have been closed down for ever. Incidentally, no one comes back to this ljfe neither us there any man who wil, help himself in the kufe to come.

THE PROBLEM OF MIGHTY MEN.

Nebuchadnezzar once boasted of the things his hands had done, but he could not restrain the power that sent him out of the palace to live with beasts in the forest for seven years.

THE SPIRITUAL LESSON.

Many poor people are obeying God. This was the case of Lazarus. The rich man did not know God. Nothing says a rich man can not go the heaven.

Learn from this lesson.

SERVE GOD WHILE IT IS DAY.

And Jesus said:

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4).

If Jesus who is God said this what should mortal men say? Serve God now that  you are alive.

God bless you. AMEN

16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:

16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (Luke 16:19-31.)
