Friends , I welcome all of us to this message on REJECTION and may God bless you and me, so to walk in righteousness before Him and avoid the tragic circumstances, which led to men and women to be rejected by God Amen.
THE MESSAGE :
The lead memory verses :
3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3 : 15 – 16).
This is God’s verdict to the church in Laodicea.
You can read all of Rev. 3 :14 – 19, about the Church in Laodicea, to have more insight.
Such countries and peoples mentioned along in early churches in Asia, disappeared from the Christian calendar today into other faiths.
We may not know fully why God rejects people. Some could be specified as given above.
SPECIAL NOTES:
In the case of Saul, God spoke through Samuel that He has rejected Saul. Many a time we want to hear messages that tell us that God will bless us . Such messages are fine with me. But incidentally God may have rejected some people, unknowingly to them, yet they pray for blessing.
Read this scripture :
15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
15:26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel. (1 Samuel 15 : 22 – 23, 26).
My Christian friends note why God rejected Saul. He was rebellious, which God said was as the sin of witchcraft, he was stubborn which God said is as iniquity and idolatry.
A man who God has rejected is living for nothing henceforth. God had sent Saul to fight against Amakek and destroy everything living both man, woman child and beast. But Saul spared the fat rams for sacrifice and took Agag their king as captive.
When Saul was questioned, he said to Samuel :
15:21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal. (1 Samuel 15 : 21).
Samuel said to Saul : “obedience is better than sacrifice and to hearken is better than the fat of rams”.
God can reject a man, because of disobedience. All we read in scriptures are to caution us about the seriousness of disobedience and stubbornness to God’s instructions. Saul was described as being stubborn.
THE MAN ESAU BEFORE GOD.
Esau was also rejected when God said the following about him:
Reading from Malachi Chapter 1 :
1:2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness. (Malachi 1 : 2 -3)
We can gather here that God loves some and hates some. The reasons can be too bad to hear, but we may not be told all.
Reading also from Jeremiah :
49:10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not. (Jeremiah 49 :10).
What God said about Esau concerns people of Mount Seir and the nation of Edom joined to together with Esau. God even put a curse on the generations and neighbours. Esau never valued birthright and that was why he conceded it to his brother Jacob. God knew of Esau and revealed what happened to him in Genesis later in the books of Jeremiah and Malachi.
God said He “loved”Jacob but He “hated” Esau. The words “love” and “hate” of these two people respectively, were in the past tense. God chooses who to love or to hate and the reasons are best known to Him and He owes us no explanations.
Definitely we must realise that we serve an awesome God, who is yet merciful, also who is compassionate but yet will not set aside iniquity.
God is too holy to behold, so pure that we do not mingle in filthiness, while in His presence.
In dealing with such a Being, who is all knowing, we must walk before Him in fear.
Saul and Esau never walked before God in fear. When Isaac blessed Jacob, Esau began to do those things he knew his father Isaac hated. In his marriage and choosing associates, he moved out of the Abrahamic covenant and the promise. God knew all about Esau, before His verdict which He gave about him “Esau I hated”. So Esau was rejected and taken out of the honours role call.
ELIAB SON OF JESSE.
When Samuel got to the home of Jesse and moved towards Eliab, God told Samuel this,
reading from 1 Samuel Chapter 16 :
16:6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’s anointed is before him.
16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. (1 Samuel 16 : 6 – 7).
God does not look at the countenance of men , neither on their stature, but He looks at the heart. So why God will reject a man is entirely based on the the best of His foreknowledge.
Let us walk with caution. God is the same God of the Old Testament, as He is God of the New Testament.
When the people sinned in the time of Noah, He God, set aside the people of that World and chose Noah and his family during the flood.
When the Israelites sinned in the wilderness, He vowed they will not enter His rest ( Heb. 3 : 17 – 18), therefore all that left Egypt died in the wilderness, except Joshua and Caleb, who entered the Promised Land of Canaan.
THE TALK ABOUT NATIONS THAT WERE ONCE CHRISTIAN NATIONS, BUT NOW BACKSLIDDEN.
God has rejected many nations and still rejecting, not because there is victory against Christianity in those lands. God is rejecting those who will not enter His rest, because of their choice to reject Him. God is not forcing people to become candidates of heaven. He gave His Son as sacrifice for sin and scripture says those who do the contrary are like crucifying Christ a second time ( read Hebrews 6 : 6). When the church of Asia at Laodicea, did not honour God, He spued them out if His mouth,
OUR WHOLESOME OPTION.
As indivividuals, let us not cry about them, who are lost, but let us on our own live a righteous life before God and let us be warned, not to be like them and let us keep up evangelism untiring.
God is ordaining people with heavenly life in holiness towards Him and rejecting the hypocritical ones, who are walking on the platform of being christians, but mere lukewarm in the faith.
God bless you for accepting this salvation message today Amen.
