Trials Can Be Great Test.
Please take time to read through and get the main issues. What you might call a little thing might cost you irreparable fortunes here and in eternity. Those little might be trials.
- Gehazi the servant of Elisha.
(a) Gehazi followed after Naaman to take rejected gifts by Elisha.
5:20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.5:21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?5:23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. (2 Kings 5 : 20 – 23).
Elisha rejected the gifts of Naaman, who tried to show great gratitude for being healed of leprosy. But Gehazi ran after him to secretly tell Naaman that the master sent him to come for the gifts.
(b) Gehazi Returned to the Tower with the Gifts .
5:24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.5:25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.5:26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? (2 Kings 5 : 24 – 26).
Gehazi hid the gifts and lied to Elisha that he never went after Naaman to collect the gjfts.
Elisha asked Gehazi :
” Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?”
Many people who serve in the temple run after gifts instead of being contented with other ways God would bless them. This is current world obsession in the lives of men in deliverance ministry. Elisha was good enough to reject such gifts, but his servant failed due to greed. By this Gehazi failed to succeed Elisha. Little things can rob a man great destiny.
(c) Gehazi was therefore Cursed.
5:27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. (2 Kings 5 : 27).
The greed of men could also be sources of generational curses. Children are suffering for the sake of the greed of their parents.
We must not forget that as Gehazi was punished, many people who follow after such lifestyles today will receive their portion of punishment. God is consitent in dealing with sin.
- Judas the disciple of Jesus.
Read the following :
To Judas Iscariot, it was simple take the thirty pieces of silver from the chief priest and hand Jesus over. He might have thought the people cannot get at Jesus. But he was wrong.
He lost eternity in the place of hell and secondly note that his nane was not in the city of God, where the names of the twelve apostles, were inscribed on the twelve foundations of the city.
Note:
21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Revelation 21 : 14).
How Judas lost out :
(a) 26:47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. (Matthew 26 : 47).
(b) 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. (Matthew 27 : 3 – 4).
The event that led to the lost position did not count much to Judas, but the loss was so great to be reckoned.
DO NOT BE A CASUALTY.
- The Red porridge of Jacob to Esau.
Esau sold his birth right for a simple meal.
25:29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.25:31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.25:32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?25:33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. (Genesis 25 : 29 – 33).
Simple statements can sell a life long blessing.
We must be careful of what we say or do under desparate moments. Because you are poor today you begin to cut corners to get your desire; note that you may not be able to trace your way back througn the cut corners you had passed through.
Esau had said : “What is this birthright to me?”
He needed this birth right later , but could not have it, because he had sold it under a seal to Jacob.
The porridge is nothing in context, eating it was for a moment, perhaps not the only meal Esau ate that day. He could do without it for a little patience. What he lost trails his generation and humanity to this day.
FINAL SUMMARY :
This article today is designed to save some one. God is merciful. Do not despise little things for they might be the foundation of big things in your life, which could be good or evil.
Have faith in God. You have a guaranteed future from God, starting from earth, right up to eternity.
You need faith and endurance and obedience and righteousness to the principles of God.
What people strive here may be frustration. Some have suffered because of being in a hurry, not prepared to wait is man’s greatest calamity.
At the end what people struggled for and by it destroyed their destiny count as nothing when compared with what they have lost.
