(An urgent message for Evangelists of the Gospel.)
Those who sow harvest, those who plant do reap.
And Jesus said “the harvest is plenteous…. ”
The harvest is plenteos could mean seeds have been sown and grown to be harvested (reaped). The seeds have yielded or will yield great abundance to be needing many harvesters.
He summarised that the labourers are few. Those who are prepared to join the team of harvesters are not many.
Read the following in Luke :
10:1 After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. (Luke 10 : 1 – 2).
Jesus is Master of the vineyard. He is the one who converts souls, but He needs forerunners to go ahead to places He will later go to. Just like John the Baptist was a forerunner, so will the labourers go in advance to announce the coming of Jesus.

4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
4:36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
4:37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. (John 4 : 35 – 37).
The man that puts his hand to the plough and looks back is not worthy of the harvest.
When I was baptised in 1968, the servant of God, Apostle Joseph Ikechiuku, lamented that some were about to die and said that baptism was delayed for them. After the baptism we noted that one of us died not a long time thereafter.
9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.( Luke 9 : 62).
Every decision to serve God is urgent for no one knows what tomorrow will bring.
WHY DID JESUS SAY SO? (John 4 : 35)
Many excuses are always given why the call of Jesus cannot be answered. People are looking for the convenient time to go for soul winning, or to repent.
A pleasure seeking World or an environment of many obstacles in the life of people, will never allow the time for evangelism and the winning of souls.
And in this respect, Jesus encountered people who were in the following situations :
(1) Let me go and bury my father first :
9:59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
9:60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
(2) another said let me go and bid them farewell :
9:61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.( Luke 9 : 61)
There are several excuses, which people will give that should let pastoral call to work to wait.
Did Abraham bid farewel, to the people of his village? Many have been discouraged when they got home, to tell the people, what they have planned to do in the Lord.
The harvester needs outright decision for the harvest will wait for no one. Those who will procrastinate, will be left behind, by the moving train. There ought not be any special preparation to answer the call of the Lord.
I will : “repent tomorrow after all there is still time, for I am still young”, is a dangerous signal for people moving for heaven.
DO NOT SAY THERE IS YET TIME :

The current events around us prove that the world is in urgent need to be harvested.
Many are dieing without Christ. Note also that there are nany unconverted people in the churches. There are many bench warmers in the church.
Preachers are needed more on the field to lay the foundation of the Gospel, waiting for the Lord to baptise them with faith.
Go and preach the Gospel to the dieing, may be some will be rescued from hell.
THE HARVEST REMAINS A ONE TIME PROGRAMME, THAT SHOULD NOT BE DELAYED.
Let us pray : Lord grant us the grace to be one of the labourers for the harvest in Jesus name Amen.
