FEAR

Fear is generally a psychological feeling of unsafety.

What do people fear ?

Possible issues that raise fear :

-1)  people fear of potential danger.

-2) people fear of what they  feel is above them.

-3)  people fear of any thing or event which might lead to death.

– 4) people dread the future.

The future carries the unknown, because they do not know what the future holds. What the future holds puzzles all men, great or small rich or poor.

Thus fear is not a matter in  doubt it is real in man.

DO MEN FEAR GOD AS THEY FEAR THE ABOVE LISTED THINGS?

The answer is yes and no. Godly people fear  God,  because they know He is every thing to them. Therefore they cast their hope in God on things that create fear.

But  the godless do not fear God and that is why they sin and suffer in ignorance.

In this Jesus told us what to fear.

And Jesus said :

10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. )Matthew 10 : 28.)

This is the ttue fear and we have to fear God, through obedience to His laws.

If we fear God we shall fear no evil.

23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Psalm 23 : 4).

Then Satan had asked God :

Does Job fear You for nothing?

1:9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

1:11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. (Job 1 : 9 – 11).

Apart from other reasons,  we have  to fear God,  because He is our creator.

A good man will boast of God because of what God is to Him.

If the  reason to  fear God is  because of His blessings and protection , then  if  we sin and He withdraws His blessings we might blasphame.

Good or  bad those who know their God will wait upon Him and not go in the direction of Satan.

GOD’S CHILDREN WILL BOAST OF HIM.

27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

27:2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. (Psalm 27 : 1 – 2).

Note ttese readings to encourage you :

– 1) True wisdom begins from fearing God.

111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. (Psalm  111: 10).

-2) FEARING GOD IS THE CONCLUSION OF ALL HABITS.

12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12 : 13).

-3) THERE IS GREAT REWARD ON FEARING GOD.

19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. (Psalm 19 : 9 – 11).

OUR MEDITATION TODAY ON THE SUBJECT OF FEAR.

BECAUSE YOU FEAR HIM  IN YOUR LIFE YOU CAN REJOICE :

33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him

33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

33:10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

33:11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

33:13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

33:14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.33:15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

33:17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

33:19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. (Psalm 33 : 8 – 19).

PRAYER :

Lord God I fear You because of  who You are. You have hidden Your awesome nature from us otherwise who can approachYou.

Father I note this as evidence of Your compassion and faithfulness to keep us otherwise,  who can come near to You.

Thank  you Lord,  for making me to seeYou in my heart, keep me to fear You for ever Amen.
