LOVE

Jesus did not die for righteous people. So whoever comes to Him will be saved.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ” (Romans 5:8).

He who does not show love cannot receive love. You can take a bet on this statement.

Several definitions are given herewith:

Love is a complex emotion often described as a deep affection, fondness, or attachment to another person, or even to a concept or thing.

: a quality or feeling of strong or constant affection for and dedication to another. motherly love. 2. a. : attraction based on sexual desire : the strong affection and tenderness felt by lovers.

True love is often described as a deep, unconditional and enduring form of love that is capable of transcending time and distance. It is a love that is based on mutual respect, understanding, and support, and is not dependent on fleeting emotions or external factors.

How do we compare these definitions with agape ?

Agape love is a selfless, unconditional, and sacrificial love, often described as the highest form of love.

Summing our definitions “agape” is divine love.

God’s love is an  illustration of “agape”.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3 : 16).

In a  song in Sankey Jesus asked : ” I gave my life for thee, what  have you given to me”

In our prayers we have asked God of all things, but what have we given Him?

Have we given our  time for evangelism, talk  less of our money  to support the cause of the gospel.

In the world of men, it will not be possible for any man to sacrifice his only son to save unconnected persons or for a profitless purpose.

Generally love in men is overly selfish.

Only few will dare give in philanthropy. Market forces and the need for gain,  has really made men to want to give for gain and never for love.

But Paul speaking of sacrificial love said :

 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

(1 Corinthians 15 :3).

 1. Olu  ihunanya, olu ihunanya ka Jesus n’acho.

Work of love, work of love is what Jesus wants

2. Olu ihunanya adighi agu nmehie

Work of love does not count sin

3. Olu ihunanya adighi ewe iwe

Work of love is not angry

4. Olu ihunanya adighi eri ngo

Work of love does not take bribe

5. Olu ihunanya adighi ebu iro.

Work of love does not hate.

6. Olu ihunanya adighi aba mba

Work of love does not quarel.

I will sing the Igbo version and forward to the Christian community in Facebook, et-al.

***********

Even when God rebukes, us as His children, He turns back to wipe our tears and embrace us again showing a mark of love..

THAT IS LOVE AGLOW !

And the song: “when I see the blood “

Jesus blood keeps interceeding for us.

Show one  more kindness, in several ways  to soneone known or unknown to you.

Love that does not show kindness in the areas mentioned in the above song, is no love  indeed.

Christians should live in agape. To give to someone, because of what you will gain is sin. God should reward you for the good work you have done and even if you receive nothing here,  there is a better reward in heaven for sacrificial love.

To receive bribe in money, sex or in  other ways  before you assist someone is an action not delivered with love indeed. Those who do evil thngs to render services in the society  have received their rewards already on earth.

Lord guide me to show agape love, that will put smiles on the face of someone, no matter whether I will see the person again  or not on earth.
