PATIENCE

Theme of the message :

Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

The fruit of the spirit refer to the characteristics that should prevail in the life of believers.

These are referered to in Galatians 5 :

22 – 23 :

“But the fruit of the Spirit is :

– love,

— joy,

– peace,

– *forbearance, (patience).*

– kindness,

– goodness

– faithfulness,

– gentleness;

– and self-control.

Against such things there is no law.

In the Bible, forbearance as a fruit, relates to God’s patient withholding of His wrath and judgment, and it is a virtue encouraged for believers to emulate God, when dealing with people and in facing life adversities.

NOTES :

– Proverbs 19:11 “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offence.”

– Proverbs 25:15 “Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.”

– Romans 12 verse 12 : “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

FOR OUR MEDITATIONS TODAY :

In dificult times we need patience to stand before the Lord. The storm and adverse curent will never sweep us away Amen.

We need patience to stand before the .Lord in times of affliction.

The book of Proverbs tells us not to be wrathful in affliction and says to us : ” a gentle tongue can break a bone.”

It is the Spirit of patience that will make us not to be wrathful.

Most often people speak any how in times of affliction, because of impatience. Unknowingly to us, some careless statements refer to the Lord, for delaying to come for our rescue.

We are encouraged in the book of Romans 12 : 12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

– Hope will make us to believe there is a better tomorrow. We can still get over the problem.

– patience will calm us down to overlook the pains in time of adversity .

– by faithful prayers we believe that God answers prayer.

While circumstances encircle us and we wriggle in pain, let us be cautious of what we say at such times. God is working on our circumstances.

I am taught by experience, when God settles my problem and I get relieved I ask myself : “I hope I did not utter any vile statement before the .Lord?”

If we had accused the Lord of abandoning us, what do we say to Him when He unveils some surprises we never knew about?

We need patience to follow the Lord.

There is nothing on this physical earth that has no end. What ever you find troublesome take it to Jesus in prayer. It will end with time.

Speak faith into every situation and wait for the Hand of God. With time God will bring the desires of your heart to pass, only do not rail, or quarell with God.

I end the sermon of today with this song :

In Igbo ( a people South East of Nigeria)

Obim atula ujo, onye n’edu gi mara uzor.

In English it is interpreted :

“My soul fear not He that leads you knows the way.”

Lord God, give us the fruit of patience, so that we will be patient in all troubles and never to speak ill about Your faithfulness to us. We will keep believing in You in all conditions. So help us Lord in Jesus name Amen.
