Greetings :
I greet everyone who will read , or listen to this sermon in the name of Jesus. As you listen or read, may the Almighty God, refresh you, about who you are, that you as an individual is part of the body of Jesus Christ, which is the Church.. Amen. May this assurance continue in you, that the gates of hell will not prevail against you. You will be counted among the victorious after the current pandemic, in the name of Jesus Amen.
God is with us up to today 19th July, 2020 and that is why we are here Amen.
There is a popular song which is sung at youth gatherings and even among the elders of the old time religion.
The church is marching on (2ce)
The gates of hell shall not prevail
The church is marching on.
THE CHURCH IS FOUNDED ON JESUS.
And Jesus said :
16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16 :18).
Jesus is the Rock upon which the church is built. The gates of hell, that is all the haters of righteousness, all the anti-Christ, shall not prevail against the church.
Who is the church?
Is the church just buildings or a movemet or ordinary tradition?
No, the church is not just a building or buildings , the church is any man or woman, who has answered the call to give his or her life to serve CHRIST the Living Son of God.
You are the church and all the chosen and called people are the bride of Christ who is the bridegroom.
The church is given authority :
16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16 : 19).
The church has the authority to bind and the authority to loose. Christ has made it clear, so all the powers that rise up against the church are bound by God’s word. It has been given and and will not return void. All those who gang up against the church are bound. So the events that will unfold will declare if they have authority over the church.
Jesus handed this authority to the disciples.
9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. (Luke 9 :1).
Every power that stands against the church is a manifestation of the devil. The power to cast out devils and heal sicknesses was given to the disciples and is also the power to loose and bind.
The people of God particularly Christians, are under attack all over the world today. Jesus recognised this as a possibility, but He had said:
17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. (Luke 17 : 1 – 2).
In the gospel according to Matthew, this statement of Jesus was elaborated thus:
18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
18:7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! (Matthew 18 : 5 – 7).
A curse has been placed against anyone from whom offences will come against the church. It is a trap for anyone who will desire to enter into it. Christ in the above words used the little child as an emblem of a disciple. They are described as little children, because they go about harmless and people take them for granted. Some say ” I can do you anything I like and nothing will happen”
I did some little Physics in secondary school and we have an axiom, which states : “actions and reactions are equal and opposte”. So those who touch them, it will be better a millstone is tied around their neck and they cast into the depth of the sea.
I want to say here that reactions from God for bad treatment against the little ones, will be levered by Jesus and it will be greater than the action which caused the reaction.
THE CHURCH UNDER LOCKDOWN !
The church is under lockdown, but the real church is not under lockdown. What is under lockdown are buildings and never the CHURCH, who are but persons called by God..
For forty years the Jews on the Way to the promised land were a church. They did not build houses for God, but God moved with them. The power of the church is not in buildings, but rather in the people, who live in Christ. Even if the buildings are pulled down, the church keeps marching on, because Christ can no man pull down.
David desired to build a temple for the Lord and God said to him, all the time I moved with you in the wilderness, did you build me a temple? However, the Lord said to David, “I do not live in temples built with hands”. God is inestimable, He lives in the chosen ones, who form the church.
NOTE THIS :
7:47 But Solomon built him an house.
7:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? (Acts 7 : 47 – 49).
HEAVEN IS NOT UNDER ANY LOCKDOWN THEREFORE, GOD’S THRONE IS IN HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND ALL THE BUILDINGS IN IT ARE A FOOTSTOOL UNDER HIS FEET. AMEN.
PRAYER : Lord God where ever we gather, whether on the road side, in our houses or pathways, let your presence be found for you are called Jehovah Sharma, who dweleth in the presence of your people, So Lord answer our prayers where ever we may be AMEN.
