BORN WITHOUT A SPOON.

“Life giving sermon  “a must-read” for all people.”   (from Miracle Valley Gospel Ministries).

I was born  South East of Nigeria. Our fathers at the time I was growing up,  did not use metal spoons as it is today.

They had a calabash plant, whose fruit was shaped like a spoon. This  longish fruit  was always cut into two with a sharp knife  to get two spoon –  shaped hard materials,  which we used to eat things like rice,  drink paper soup, this  was our spoon and we were proud of it.

Some of this plant yielded, drinking glass shaped cups and some brought out  kegs for carrying native Palm wine.

You can see how God arranged many things for us.  God is still doing natural things for us today.We must be grateful to God in all things.

Today in most homes, almost everyone, uses silver  or gold coated spoons, to do what we did with spoons from the calabash plant, which we planted. Some of  us today, use glass or plastic  cups, plastic spoons  and there are  many  canned drinks and rum kegs etc.

We must remain grateful to God for what ever this life offers us. We lived and grew up, ate our food  with spoons from calabash plant and did not die. The type of spoon we used to eat did not determine whether we lived  or died.

And I have this proverb, “a child born in a wood and thatch house, in which  there is life,  is better than a child  born  in an iron roofed house, with brick  and  marble wall, which is but a grave yard.”

GOD’S WORD TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL WAS THAT THEY SHOULD  WATCH OUT, WHEN THEY GROW INTO PROSPERITY !

8:11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

8:12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

8:13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

8:14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

8:17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. (Deuteronomy 8 : 11 – 14, 17).

Eventually, many who had used calabash spoons, are saying like things today. Today you and ne who were once nothing, boast how we have struggled to survive.

Many who grew out from  poverty to prosperity and to stardom today, had forgotten how God took them out of the  very emptiness  of life and they have  boasted of their wealth and  in that respect, we have so much of  tragic issues across the nations.

God warned Israel never to say : ” my  power and the might of mine hand, has given me this wealth.” ( Deut, 8 : 17).

Many poor people like us,  have been called by God into this grace of life also , for a journey to  soul salvation in eternity.

 Look at what the scriptures calls the  believer:

(1) ” But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2 :9).

Look at what the scriptures said again :

(2) 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? (James 2 : 5 – 6).

(3) Note this also in followng this sermon :

And from Romans Chapter 8,  where  scriptures talk on  predestination as a great priviledge :

Rom. 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. (Romans I : 29 – 30).

Have you ever heard of backslidders? These are people who have forgotten the choice God made of them and some are today, “gay priests”

If a poor man raised to the level of a Prince is ungrateful to the King Maker, it were better he faced the hang man.

 As many of us, who God has so endowed and who  fail to recognise our erstwhile poverty, it should be a matter to think over.

In our world today many of the priests by God’s Grace have forgotten, how God raised them from grass to grace. Many in the opportunity of this priesthood, have back-tracked in their  mind and feel they got to the level they are by their wisdom and strength and instead of praising God ( 1 Peter 2 : 9)  are doing many shoddy things in sanctimony.

 But note this :  “God is watching.”

A  leader took another wife to the altar, while the first presumed wife, was still alive and  his  daughter from  the first  wife,  sang at the  wedding : “God is watching us.”

The song was mere entertainment, to the audience,  while the priest under God’s grace in priesthood, went ahead to do a dirty job.

“WE WERE BORN WITHOUT A SPOON IN OUR HAND, ALL  OF WHAT WE HAVE IN LIFE IS BORROWED AND THE OWNER COULD TAKE IT BACK WITHOUT ANY NOTICE AND OR OUR RESISTANCE.”

MY PRAYER FOR ME AND YOU :

Lord, give us the heart to ever remain grateful and serve  you, for even those little things which people call nothing are not our efforts. Hear me Lord, in Jesus name Amen.
