2023 New Year Message.
By His mercies we are not consumed.
God’s plan had been everlasting life for all men. But due to sin, people die and are buried, some go to hell, while the righteous go to heaven to be with God for eternity.
In this world such as it is today, God visits us in compassion. Jeremiah seeing the suffering and rescue of Israel said in the book of Lamentations Chapter 3 :
3:22 It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
3:24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
3:25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. (Lamentations 3 : 22 – 25).
Israel was in the Babylonian captivity for seventy years. There is hope for the faithful, during the Millennial reign of Christ with the saints, only there will there be no captivity.
CURRENT EVILS IN WORLD.
All that has ever happened to man is a result of sin.
– Today man’s inhumanity to man is expanding manisfesting in the shedding of innocent blood;
– The government which ought to be an umpire to allow for peaceful living, is today promoting injustice in many nations a situation, much perculuar to the African nations.
– Dishonouring God by sinful living at all levels of immorality, such as incest and open view-sex, in parts of the world is no more illegal.
In former times pornography was condemned and governments frowned at that.
But today open sex has been legalised in some places by governments in some parts of the world. Man has back – tracked to the level of beasts.
– Idol worship, ritual killing and the craze for money through sinful methods is very rampant and admired.
– The child no longer honours the father and even some parents are leading their children to gross disobedience to the word of God.
Countless to mention them, God is likely running out of patience, this I think like a human being and the end of the age is closing up .
Israel went to exile due to her own perculiar type of whoredom.
Jeremiah lamented that by the mercies of God they were not all consumed, because of God’s faithfulness which were importantly, because God desired to preserve His people.
Today the entire humanity is gradually becoming a strange bird before His creator .
There is a wide range of persecution on those who stand for the truth and many have been murdered.
Like the master who, travelled and left his estate to overseers, returned to see that the overseers abused the estate and killed those who were sent to bring them to order, it is so in our wicked world now
What will the master do in our situation?
WILL ALL HUMANITY GO INTO CONTEMPORARY EXILE?
– Which nation will take the world into exile?
– Which nation will be a haven of bliss?
– When the duration of exile is over, to which nations will the returnees go ?
Jesus return is imminent and coming to reign in the midst of the saints is the feasible option. We are in the last dispensation after this current Church Age.
Prophet Isaiah foresaw the coming age as reminder of life in the Millennial Reign.
Read from Isaiah :
65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
65:21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
65:22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
65:23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 6t : 20 – 25).
A situation as the above can only be compared with a dysney land. Surely, that is God’s plan and not all will enjoy that.
THERE IS HOPE FOR THE RIGHTEOUS.
Let us continue to move with a thankful heart.
Psalm 111 :
111:1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
111:2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
111:3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
111:4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
111:5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. (Psalm 111: 1 – 5).
A NEW MODE OF LIVING
As we have entered this new year, let us take each day as the Day of The Lord. Let us be passionate about the things of heaven. God will bless His children this 2023 and you who read this Sermon, you are one of God’s precious child.
Live each day as just one day and prepare your life for the coming of the Lord. Let your life be a blessing to people around you in teaching the Word and in giving.
God is faithful.
My prayer for us today :
Lord God , you have given us 2023. if Christ does not come in 2023, let my life remain useful to you, gathering the saints for the Kingdom. Remember me Lord : ” you said my labour shall not be in vain.”
Make me exceedingly fruitful in services to you, in Jesus name Amen.
