A WORD TO THE COVENANT PERSON.
Moral Lesson For Today :
God will not bless a harlot of Faith as He blessed Jacob. God regards an idol worshipper as a prostitute and He has said He will not share His glory with any.
THEREFORE TO US , “GOD WILL NOT LEAVE US UNTIL HE HAS FINISHED WITH US.”
“Hence, we must be mindful of how we serve God, because He God, does not mix wine.”
The Message For Today.
After the sons of Jacob had killed Hamor, his son Shechem and all the males circumcised and their household and took away all their treasures, cattle, their wives and children, (Genesis 34 : 26 – 29), it could have been expected, they would be pursued in a reprisal.
There is no record in the immediate verses in Genesis of God speaking about the event, even though Jacob was deeply stressed, (Genesis 34 : 30), over the action of Simon and Levi, the sons of Leah whose sister was defiled by Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite. Dinah was 13-14 years old when she was defiled and in the custody of Shechem.
God immediately in Genesis 35 : 1 – 2, said to Jacob :
35:1 “Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. (Genesis 35 : 1 – 2).
QUESTIONS :
What happened to the parcel of land which Jacob bought from Hamor in the land? (Genesis 33:19).
What also happened to Abraham’s property in the land of Haran from where he was called out?
For our meditation and application.
Covenant people are sojourners in any land of domicile, they likely live like pilgrims on earth. Abraham sought for a city whose builder is God. For you and me, who are covenant people, should we be a “grab-grab” generation?
LOYALTY TO GOD DRAWS HIM CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE.
Jacob who remained loyal to God told all the people to remove all their strange gods and so they can move to Bethel and build an altar for the Lord.
AND NOW THIS QUESTION TO YOU AND ME :
SINCE YOU BELIEVED, HAVE YOU REMOVED YOUR IDOLS?
You should note this :
19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. (Acts 19 : 19).
What could be an idol?
– Vain things which do not glorify God.
– Yourself and all that makes you see yourself as a god to yourself.
– Money in bank that has taken the place of God in yiur life.
– Inglorious achievements thst put God aside in your life.
– carved wood or of iron, spiritism which encourage a worship outside God, are idols for they are all vanity.
Is it not unfortunate that some servants of God and individuals, trade in voodoo, they keep pocket gods, some annoint their mouths with charms to have earth moving sermons, and miracles. How are you?
We must remove every idol, if we want God to stand for us.
If you want to serve God do not keep any other god, for God hates idol worship, and has said He will not share His glory with any. People keep other gods and worship satan and fallen angels, while in search for protection and breakthrough.
Do you think such people are really prosperous and protected?
All of humanity are subject to many life travails, but those who have confidence in God shall be like Mount Zion.
I wish you to take note of the following in the book of Psalms (Chapter 125 : 1 – 5)
125:1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
125:2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
125:3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
125:4 Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
125:5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel. (Psalm 25 :1-5)
Candidly, God was with Jacob as they passed and the cities around were terrified.
In Genesis 35 : 5, we note:
35:5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob. (Genesis 35 : 5).
Because they had made God their God, God always protected His own.

Moral And Spiritual Lesson Today Repeated:
God will not bless a harlot of Faith as He blessed Jacob. God regards an idol worshipper as a prostitute and He has said He will not share His glory with any.
Therefore be mindful of how you serve God, because He God, does not mix wine.
Jacob obeyed God in his life and maintained perfect relationship with Him.
God always reminded Jacob of His salvation in difficult times.
Jacob also recounted the promises of God to him, as an assurance to him concerning God as a COVENANT keeping God.
Read Genesis 28 :15 :
And God said to Jacob :
“And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.”
THEREFORE TO YOU, “GOD WILL NOT LEAVE YOU UNTIL HE HAS FINISHED WITH YOU.”
You either serve Him or Satan, because He will not share His glory.
Prayer for today :
God Almighty, please Lord, grant me the grace to remain faithful in your Word.
