Nothing can be better than the time of God. Since there is time of the Lord, there is need to wait for that time.
In many lands today there are great hardship. Even in our Nigeria, there is great trouble every where. People are dieing anyhow and people are not afraid to take the life of others. This is a time to wait upon the Lord in earnest prayer.
No employment, or waiting to have children of one’s own, thinking to get married, seeking a break through or seeking solution to a long problem, the question of waiting is not to be set aside. There is always God’s time.
Waiting in this respect means to expect, gather together, and look patiently for a desire.
The Bible tells us that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:31)
Some things happen when we wait upon the Lord:
1) renew strength : there will be change, spring up, sprout.
2) shall mount up with wings as eagles : not that you will be young eagles, ascending on the wings of the parent, rather you will get on to the heights above you.
3) shall run and not be weary : this is great grace as you run and not pant. How marvelous is this?
4) shall walk and not faint : doing great things and not yet tired.
Those who wait upon the Lord shall therefore not be ashamed. You will receive favour when the Lord comes to favour you and :
49:23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me. (Isaiah 49 :23).
These blessings shall not come if waiting is not followed with patience. Those who are not patient do not stand long enough in hard times.
So Psalm 37:14 encourages us to:
37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. (Psalm 37 : 7.)
Often in difficult times, we cry when we find the wicked prospering, while we might strive and still not yet have. Yes, we must wait, until the favours come from the Lord.
We are told not to get worried, when we observe the type of prosperity of the wicked. Wait for the prosperity of the Lord. It shall come to those, who wait upon Him, for this God, who is the King of kings is gracious and Almighty.
In all these :
27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27 : 14).
Prayer:
Lord on thee I wait, do to me great good as I wait for You Amen.Shalom!
