Preamble :
Read this in Igbo ( Igbo is the language of a people East of Nigeria).
This is a song and it goes thus :
Verse 1 : Ndi Igbo si na emesia epkewere Chinaeke,
Emesia ndi Igbo ogabu olemgbe.
Verse 2 : Ndi Igbo si na abacha, ekpewere Chinaeke,
Abacha ndi Igbo ogabu olembbe.
Interpreting into English :
Verse 1:
The Igbo people say “after finishing all we are doing, we can begin to worship God.”
The question: “when will that time of finishing everything be”.
Verse 2:
The Igbo people say : “After we have become wealthy” we can then begin to worship God.”
The question : ” When will that after being wealthy be?”
The above is a song sang in the Igbo traditional society, about the mindset of those who are waiting for when all will be well before they can worship God.
There is a caution : “You cannot enter heaven if you are a backslidder.”
The farming season is a period of sowing. People sow with hope to harvest. Those who stay away from the plough have given up hope for the harvest.
Those who sow, do so, with the hope of the glory that is to be revealed.
Procrastinating the time of your service is dangerous, because according to the song when will every thing be well on earth?
THE MESSAGE FOR TODAY.
Background
Bible Reading On The Issue From Jesus.
9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest
9:58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
This man made a personal intent to follow Jesus. However the response from Jesus did not fit into his expectation. For those who feel that service in God’s temple must is eating and drinking must know it is not so, but unreserved service.
THOSE WHO HE INVITED, GAVE EXCUSES.
9:59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
9:60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
9:61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
(Luke 9 : 57- 62).
You will notice from the parable of Jesus the various conditions given by the people who He invited. You will note the answers which He gave them and His conclusion to the whole matter in Luke 9 : 62 : “No one having put his hand on the plough and looking back is worthy of the harvest.
ESTABLISHED PARADIGMS.
Across the nations of the world, people have ways of doing things and such ways are laid as foundations of buildings. Many have set aside the foundations laid by God and stiffneckly, chosen their own ways.
Christ calls for a paradigm shift. All you want to conquer, before you do things required of you by God are definitely unachievable milestones, because each day brings up other circumstances, which sets its own milestone for men.
There will always be uncompleted projects in the life of all human beings. All human programs therefore, must wait, but let God’s program be given every available priority. And in this respect Jesus said ” Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all other things will be added unto you”.
Read from Matt. 6 : 32 – 33:
6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
-What you should do today must never be pushed forward.
-The call of God has no contrary answer. It should be answered now , no dely.
-God is not gambling with time.
God works with precision and understands what He invites people to do and all the benefits attached to His assignments.
God has planned the fullness for those He called. His time is approprire for you.
Prayer:
Lord do not allow me to look back after putting my hand on the plough. Do not allow me to be like the wife of Lot.
