This is the sermon for today September 4th 2022.
There are different aspects of hunger, each in broad terms :
(1) We have hunger for food,
(2) or hunger to succeed, call that prosperity.
(3) We also have hunger for healing. When people are sick they hunger to return to good health.
(4) We also have hunger for salvation and that is to get to heaven and ;
(5) Is the hunger for sex.
Of all these, no one hungers to fail.
Of all these levels of hunger, only the hunger to get to heaven is not a natural instinct. To get to heaven is a spiritual instinct and is ordained from heaven.
Of the other natural instincts the process to achieve them are often laden with sin and this is the course to hell.
Some one may be prosperous, healthy, swim in sex baths, eat the best of foods and the like and go to hell if there were no righteousness ways in such life.
A man can be deprived all of the above and like Lazarus, find himself at the bossom of Abraham.
Jesus spoke of hunger severally:
Matt.5 :6
5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6).
Luke 6 : 25
6:25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. (Luke 6:25).
John 6 : 35
6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35).
Hunger for a righteous life is great and those who.seek it shall be full. Bread fills the stomack, but those who eat this physical bread shall hunger again. Jesus tells us that He is the bread of life and those who eat of Him shall be full.
The only hunger that gives satisfaction is that of a righteous life. It is the only meal that can be eaten without fear. Even the physical food, often go with toxins, sex often go with disease, wealthy people seek extra protection, but the Word of God which is eternal food carry with it healing and is a refuge.
Apostle Paul spoke about it.
And he wrote
“Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; (1 Corinthians 4:11).
Yes, in this life we hunger, not because we do not eat, there is a craving for a higher dimension so we are never filled.
The book of revelation spoke about the end of hunger in the following words:.
7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Revelation 7:15-17).
Brethren, people are dieing daily both great and small. How many will enjoy the ultimate? They may have satisfied material hunger in.many dimensions.
All the levels of hunger on earth outside Jesus can be very frustrating. We labour to achieve them but never get the climax, but you know salvation has a climax.
Often we say it was an exciting moment when some hunger are satisfied, but we shall hunger again. Like Jesus.told the Samaritan woman in this dialogue :
4:11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?4:12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall n ringing up into everlasting life. (John 4:11-14).
LET US HUNGER FOR ETERNAL LIFE.
Of all our breath sapping experiences here, we would have laboured in vain if we had not eaten the bread if life. For here in this life, we keep wanting ephemeral things that give us temporal satisfaction, often earned through sin that ends in sorrow.
I would rather take us to this direction :
Let all we hunger for and get various successes, help us to use the material things to invest in the things that will give eternal.life to people.
Let us use our wealth to sow seeds that will create opportunity for people to learn.of God or to win souls and in this, will all hunger we all express daily, be of great benefit to us-all.

Heavenly Father, help us to labour for eternal profit. Let us Lord, never labour in vain. Grant us grace Lord, that our labours in the things we hunger for and thirst, help our spiritual life and these even lift up our associates.
