It is often better to be poor than to be rich and go through the harrowing experiences of those who acquired wealth at the expense of their soul.
Preamble to the Message.
All human beings want to be rich. And I often define this thought of men to want to be rich to mean “chicken in every pot”.
It is good to be rich. but note that in the effort to be rich many have got into many troubles. Those troubles come from the things which people do to get rich. A one time friend defined such manoeuvres of men as resulting into ” Ill gotten gains.”
THE MESSAGE FOR THE MOMENT.
Let us go to scriptures to note some things which occur and what God says in His word.
NOTE WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT RICHES.
Reading from 1 Timothy Chapter 6:
6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6 : 6 – 10).
Looking for RICHES have chased men out of righteousness.
If you seek for true riches consider to be godly and let your heart be satisfied with the little you have.
Focus on the things that will lead you to eternal life in God for that is the best. All other things are earthly.
Many people in the attempt to be rich today have got themselves into several ungodliness. This is done in the drive to have money. Things which should not be heard have been done to acquire “chicken in every pot. Yet these things are abandoned by those who have acquired them sinfully. These material things are left behind and they have died and gone unto eternity.
In the life to come they enter eternal hell, while the things that sent them to hell remaineth on the earth.
Jesus spoke about the craze for wealth, when He taught the people. When your empires expand, do not forget that life does not depend on the widening of the empire, but surely depends upon the Lord.
Read this right from the mouth of Jesus in the gospel of Luke 12:
12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Covetousness is the greatest undoing of men. When people want to get everything they do the following through covetousness: ( Luke 12 : 15).
What do people covet in trying to be rich :
(1) they covet money or chattels or property.
(2) they covet high office,
(3) they covet the wives or husbands of their neighbours (immorality).
(4) they covet partiality by extending love to people they desire gains from. Those people they cover their sins, they will never tell them hurtful truths and they are ruined thereafter; and
(5) they covet power (to be in a position to rule).
Jesus summed this in a parable:
12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? Luke 12 : 15 – 16, 19 – 20
There is no guarantee that such people will live to receive all the manoeuvres. Try to read clearly what the Lord concluded.
Many people are glued to the above lifestyles.
THE TRUE RICHES.
5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. (James 5 : 7).
Those who want the coming of Jesus, should make righteousness the best of riches. They should never run into the lusts that come in the drive for many riches, which have pierced many men.
CONCLUSION:
It is often better to be poor than to be rich and go through the harrowing experiences of those who acquired wealth at the expense of their soul.
Abraham was rich, but did not get into sin. There are many such people as Abraham in our world today, who have righteous material wealth.
You are not excluded. Hold on God firmly, for your true wealth, both in the material and the spiritual things.
BEWARE, LOOK WELL O! O!! ,O!!! .
Prayer:
Lord God, make me me truely rich for thy glory Amen.
