The Canon : There is a lawful prosperity.
God is not against prosperity and desires that you be rich. But God is not happy when people prosper through evil means.
The apostle John wished that Gaius prospered in all things as his soul prospered (Read below).
There are people who sweat it out to eat bread. This has been the wish of God to Adam in Aden after the fall, ” by the sweat of thy brow thou shall eat bread.
3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Genesis 3 : 19)
Today many do not sweat to eat. Some steal in public office, some rob state and the suffering man and some go by rituals. They think it is well.
THERE IS A WAY OUT FOR ANY MAN IN THIS REGARD.
If they repent and make “RESTITUTION” ( make reparation), while they have the chance and that is when they are alive. God may have mercy.
God is not happy with prosperity that defies the Godly rule.
Note the Words of Apostle John to Gaius:
1:1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
1:3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. (3 John 1 : 1 – 3).
SHOULD PROSPERITY BE BY VANITY?
13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. (Proverbs 13 :11).
What ever you do to earn lawfully, keep doing it, because God will prosper you by it. Any lawful living will prosper your soul and note this : “the highest level of prosperity is the salvation of your soul.”
LUST OVER THINGS BRING IN PROBLEMS
4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? (James 4 :1)
CORRUPTED RICHES
5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
5:6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. (James 5 : 1 – 3, 6).
God in the above, is not condemning lawful riches, but rather riches got by many levels of corruption.
ENVY NOT THE UNGODLY RICH MAN.
Do not envy the ungodly rich people. Sometimes people envy people who are rich and have become hypertensive, because of such envy. It is good you struggle on your own.
If God has blessed you, use your wealth to please God. In doing this God will increase your blessing. There are blessings for the children of the upright man.
Let your wealth prosper your soul and also serve as a blessing to your descendants.

73:3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.73:4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.73:5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.73:6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.73:7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.73:8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
73:9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. (Psalm 73 : 3 – 9).
God has reserved such people for fire on the last day and some will experience the judgement even from this world.
Note what God’s word says about such foolish people, whose wealth has entered their head, mouth and eyes :
73:9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. (Psalm 73 : 3 – 9).
They can say anything, they can even mock heaven and in this God reserves them for judgment.
Even when you earn rightly remain humble and God will even by that add more to you. God is not angry when you prosper.
MY PRAYER FOR ALL :
My Lord and my God, I want to prosper in the lawful things I do. I want all my friends, men God and my family to prosper righteously. Please Daddy, answer this prayer and I will testify of it in Jesus name Amen.
