They that seek me find me.
THE DRIVING BELT FOR TODAY’S MESSAGE :
7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7 : 14).
This is an important guide for us in this message today. But note that we should not delay to do the above. It should be done now and always.
Seek Him early when He may be found.
55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (Isaiah 55 : 6).
Note the caution :
We seek God not like the children in hide and seek game. He is not as easy or even difficult to find as in the game of children.. It is not just merymaking. To seek God is a serious business and with committed mind.
We seek God through godliness, supported by prayer.
Some seek God when in trouble.
We are encouraged by scriptures to pray without ceasing.
5:17 Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5 : 17).
It should be done with diligence. If you visit the home of a great person to seek help or what ever you have to be diliigent in all assignments or he will say, “you are not serious.”
8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.( Proverbs 8 :17).
Some will not pray when things are going well with them. They enter into various forms of lifestyles, because of leasure and pleasure.
PROBLEMS OF LIFESTYLES:
– Through lifestyle some have fallen sick and died.
– Through lifestyle many rich have become poor, they became unprofitable in their spending.
-Through lifestyle many have created enemies for themselves, pride wake up sleeping enemies.
– Through lifestyle many have been Godless and paved a way to hell.
We are encouraged to seek things which are above.
3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3 :1).
TO SEEK GOD IS TO BE RIGHT WITH HIM.
God is not hidden from us. He is ever present and this song says “He has the whole world in His hand”. God cares much for all His creation.
What hides us from God is sin. To seek Him is to stay away from sin.
Read this brief story:
A Christian brother left our church in Nigerua those years and travelled to America to study Theology. After his studies he visited a friends church to worship. This brother was highly endowed by the Holy Ghost. While prayers went on he noted that some were sick. He made an invitation that those who are sick should come out for prayer. Some got up and began to walk to the altar. But the pastor of the church stopped them and said ” there are hospitals, let those who are sick go to the hospitals.
In this way many were denied obtaining divine healing.
MY ADVISE :
If you must take medicine do not disregard prayer or seeking divine healing, because God gives life and medicine is maintenance which could often fail.
Let this message bless our lives. God’s promise is faithful. Since we are faithful people let us accept them and benefit from His promises.
Go back and read again 2 Chronicles 7 : 14.
Prayer:
Lord God make me faithful to follow your promise. Amen
