It may be boring to some. but it is a must read for all.men.
Song from Hymn book: SS&S 23. To God be the glory great things he has done.
First reading for today’s worship service from the Bible : 1 Thessalonians 5 : 14 – 24. This is an encouraging exhortation.
Preamble to the message:
What is truism :
Truism is derived from the word “Truth.” If there is no truth there could be a lie.
Note this also :: There might be a white lie:
a harmless or trivial lie, especially one told to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.(google).
What is a white lie example?
The phrase ‘White Lie’ means that the falsehood being told is one that is unimportant, particularly if it is meant to be polite or tactful. Example of Use: “I told a little white lie and said she looked just fine.”
Do you agree that the domain of politicians is telling white lies.?
From this a lie is a lie no matter if it hides the truth.
We also have plain truth :
Plain truth definition: A plain object, surface, or fabric is entirely in one colour and has no pattern , design,..(google).
When we talk of plain truth nothing is hidden like as in a white lie. People resist the truth and tend to accept lies. Those who.resist the truth will pay eternal price truth is God.
This sermon today might seem abstract.
It however guides us into the meaning of truth. God is true or truth itself and His sayings are more to be believed. The sayings of God or His promises are faithful.
GOING AROUND THE WORD.
But note that Socrates and Aristotle were truistic and most of their disciples were not keen on God’s way.
What are examples of truisms?
Truism Examples in Everyday Speech
(i) Some things never change.
(ii) It is what it is.
(iii) Patience is a virtue.
(iv) The apple never falls far from the tree.
(v) You are responsible for your own success and your own failure.
(vi) Success breeds success.
(vii) You must be a friend to get a friend.
(viii) Money doesn’t buy happiness..
Note this divergence from (viii):
10:19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things. (Ecclesiastes 10:19).
How do you interpret this?
From the norminal world expressions I come up with some of such:
American English
NOUN
a self-evident, obvious truth
Examples of Truisms from the realms of human experience.
(1) It has become a truism to say that the home of weighty subjects in fiction is often young adult books

Times, Sunday Times (2006)
LET US GO TO THE SCRIPTURES.
Biblical Truisms- are innerant.
God is truth and biblical truisms draw from God. All the truisms listed above have some loopholes. There are no loop holes in the truths of the gospel. Coming from this expression God is inerrant.
Definition of inerrancy :
: “exemption from error : infallibility the question of biblical inerrancy.”
Note the following truths, which are provable by trying them
The word of God desires that we prove all things. :
5:20 Despise not prophesyings.5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5 : 20 – 22).
Some do not believe in prophecy, because of lieng prophets in the name of God, let us call this Prophesy-lieng.
CAN YOU EMRACE THESE TRUTHS?
(a) 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14)
(b) 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:7).
7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matthew 7 ‘ 8 – 11).
(c) 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. (Psalm 34:10).
(d) 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger. (Zephaniah 2:3).
(e) 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29).
(f) 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55 : 6 – 11).
APPLICATION OF TRUTH.
What I want to achieve in today’s message is to lead you into proving the words of God in your life. His words are ttue. Do not argue over them. rather prove them and let them work for you
Truth has strong virtue in that it could fall several times and still rise to say “I am still here.” Truth is bold, but what is not true is a lie and is fallible.
Liars will never go to heaven because heaven is the home of God and God is Truth all together.
In my sermon I will want us to keep the truth and avoid the lie. God makes infallible promises. The devil told Eve ” ye shall not surely die”. This promise was not emphatic in its construct. You will “not surely die”, did not mean “you will not die”.
The promises of God are eternal. There are many deceivers in the world today. They come with sweet Truisms in the eye of the simple hearted,, to entice them, but later such promises get falted by reality.
WE NEED A DISCERNING SPIRIT.
2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2: 14).
God gives the discerning spirit to His children to separate truth and error. Truth and Lie cannot mix . Read (1 Corinthians 12 : 10).
God bless you. Please note that no one who lives outside the truth will go to heaven. Such a person will tell lies and surely he is a child of Satan who has been a lier from the beginning.
God bless you abundantly Amen.
