Message for the first Sunday of June 2018.
THIS MESSAGE IS A MUST READ ! ! !
THE PREAMBLE :
The words of Jesus on this subject:
Reading from Matt. 16:26-27
16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Jesus indirectly touches on two profits:
1) material profit and
2) soul profit.
Which one do you desire?
The words of James the apostle of Jesus:
Reading from James Chapter 5:1-6:
5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
We can know from here that life is greater than riches. When people die, even at old age, people often weep very profusely, to note irreplaceable loss. When people lose their wealth they console themselves and say ” after all it is not life.” The living know they have opportunity to create wealth, but after death comes an end of all physical things.
Therefore, life is the greatest gift of God. But we must know that there are two dimensions of life: the physical life which is short and the eternal life which has no end.
And eternal life has two dimensions one to be lived in heaven and a second to be lived in hell. In this physical life we have no choice, for we have been born into physical life , either into a poor home, or a rich one, either in a white colony or the black.
But man has a choice for hell or heaven. No one is born for heaven or hell, it must be earned.

The Message :
(1) Life is a gift of God :
Gen. 2:7:
2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Man is a product of the earth or the soil upon which we walk. So man is nothing without the breath of God.
And in Acts 17:28 the apostle speaks:
” For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring”.
We must note that man’s sole duty, coming from the above, ought to be to worship God, because He is the source of our being.
(2) God gives long life to whom it is promised.
“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (Exodus 20:12).
But today many do not wish their parents long life. Some old parents have become a nuisance to the pleasure of their children. Some wish those parents dead, some have used their parents for rituals, how can such children live long lives?
Note what the Word of the Lord says :
“For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD”. (Proverbs 8 :35)
Finding God is knowing God, living in obedience to His love. God giveth long life to His friends.
And God’s word further says :
“But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death”.. (Proverbs 8:36).
May God grant His faithful children long life so that His enemies will not wag their tongues.
(3) Life is vanity and uncertain:
“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away”. (James 4:14).
“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:” (1 Peter 1:24)
People who know God are conscious of His words. We must recognise God in our physical existence. It is only in this physical existence that we will determine what will happen to us in eternity.
This life here is not certain for any one, not even for the doctors. It is vain and nothing to boast about, even though many beat their chests and say many strange things. They are still as the grass , the flowers that come up and wither before you know it.
Please papa God have mercy on us for we are creatures under you.
(4) There is the spiritual life:
Reading from Romans 6 : 4, 8.
6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life
6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
People of God have the opportunity to live again in the spiritual realm. Every living soul should prepare for eternity. We must be mindful of our christian life.
NOTE:
No man of God will give you eternal life, he is also struggling to be saved as he does the work of God.
The Bible records:
“And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper”. (2 Chronicles 20 : 20 ).
(5) Eternal life a gift of God through Jesus:
This life is also promised to men as God promised long life on physical earth. To live eternally in heaven with God is a promise to men who qualify.
Read the following :
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16)
“Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.” (1 Timothy 1:16)
Read other scriptures also:
133:3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. (Psalm 133:3)
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude 1 :21)
Finally:
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God”. (Revelation 2:7).
God owns both the spiritual and the physical realms and has not left us in ignorance of how He runs the two levels of existence.
We cannot have excuse. Let nothing make us underrate the words of God, whether we are rich, poor, down trodden, commanding influence or other, these situations count as nothing above obedience and service to God.
The way we manage life situations which we come across will determine many things about us both here and eternity.
And Jesus said:
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63).
Events of the time control the direction of the ministration of the servants of the Lord.
God is using His servants to give us reminders, let us never ignore them for they carry the living word which is spirit and life.
Father let this message bless the lives of many who hear it or read it. Amen.
